- (1888PressRelease) October 17, 2012 - The programme is developed by Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (erstwhile PSEB), which is an initiative to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by reducing the technical losses in distribution of power by upgrading the existing 3-phase 400V Low Voltage Distribution System (LVDS) feeding Agricultural Pumps (AP) with an 11kV High Voltage Distribution System (HVDS) in the identified distribution divisions in the state of Punjab, India. The project contributes to sustainable development of the region and of the country in terms of environment, socio-economic considerations, technology, and the economy.
This is the fifth Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) PoA registration from India and second from EVI. EVI helped this programme as CDM advisor. Earlier this year, EVI registered its own Solar Power PoA "National Solar Power Development Programme, India" and is its Coordinating and Managing Entity (CME). The PoA is expected to positively impact more than half a million farmer families in Punjab directly and several thousand others due to avoided power loss, which would now find better use somewhere else.
CDM provides a promising area, where additional revenues can be harnessed for Energy efficiency projects to increase their viability. EVI offers its services to PoA developers backed by strong technology expertise and best in the industry experience (with +80 CDM registrations). This is another significant effort from EVI towards its climate change mitigation endeavours since its inception.
