Totallis Limited work from their Worcester based training facilities to continue to offer the Driver CPC qualification for managers and operators of the most successful haulage and distribution companies in the UK.

Totallis Limited has been providing training and awards for individuals working in the transport industry for over 30 years.

    What is Operator CPC training?

Before someone can apply for a Goods Vehicle Operator's Licence, they will need to show that they are 'professionally competent' to do so. Either the company owner or a person employed as a transport manager will need to pass the required examination.

In the UK all operators of haulage, HGV or other goods vehicles need to pass the Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC). This examination is conducted on behalf of the Department for Transport (DfT) to ensure the high standards of vehicles and drivers operating on UK roads.

What qualification do you need to be a transport manager?

The OCR Certificate of Professional Competence examinations and awards are offered to people that pass the CPC examination syllabus.

The courses offered by Totallis Limited will test a candidate using multiple-choice assessments and case study examinations.

The courses provided for CPC operators are:

    • R1 – Certificate of Professional Competence (Road Haulage) Multiple Choice
    • R2 – Certificate of Professional Competence (Road Haulage) Case Study
    • P1 – Certificate of Professional Competence (Passenger Transport) Multiple Choice
    • P2 – Certificate of Professional Competence (Passenger Transport) Case Study

The Certificate of Professional Competence (Road Haulage, Passenger Transport) consists of two assessments. The first assessment is a multiple-choice format and the second is a case study exam.

    -Multiple Choice Assessments - R1 & P1

The multiple-choice examination is run quarterly and submitted on paper.

The exam lasts for 2 hours and consists of 60 multiple-choice questions.

During the examination, candidates will be tested on questions relating to National and International points learned within the syllabus.

To pass the multiple-choice examination, candidates will need to score 70% across the paper. This means candidates will need to correctly answer 42 or above out of the 60 questions.

    - Case Study - R2 & P2

During the case study exam, candidates will be provided with real-world case studies and asked to provide answers to related questions.

There will be a series of 5 to 8 questions that need to be answered during the examination.

Each question is worth a score of between seven and twelve marks. On completion, the exam will be scored our of the total 60 marks available.

in order to pass the exam, candidates will need to score 50% or higher. This means that to pass the exam at least 30 of the 60 points available should be correct.

It is permitted that individuals can bring handwritten or printed notes into the exam. However, the use of electronic devices is not allowed.

The case study exam will test the knowledge of candidates and how they can apply what they have learned to scenarios that may occur in real life.
