  • (1888PressRelease) July 21, 2010 - Funding in this economic climate is tough. Funding a business in Spain is possibly tougher than any European country. Add to this that the business is in tourism and many would imagine it an impossible task. Not so for Alex Joll, managing director of Atlantic Parks. Find out how he raised funding for his Timber Lodge Parks in Spain against all the odds. We also ask him how he manages to keep selling in this tough time.

Last year was one of the toughest for business. Spain was hit as hard as or harder than many countries. Tourism dropped. House prices collapsed and many developments and projects failed.

But despite this Atlantic Parks kept selling. Driven forwards by their managing director whose determination and dedication paid off this year as they secured substantial funding for the development of a second phase of their Lodge Park.

We asked Alex why his company has succeeded against the odds and why he still believes in Spain. He summed it up in just a few key benefits that his clients respond to.

Sun - at the end of the day this is what people want. This is the most reliable thing about southern Spain. At least 300 days a year of sunshine.

Price - despite the boom bust Timber Lodges represent fantastic value for money. For the price of a deposit on a flat you can own your own home outright.

Location - Spain is 2 hours away from the UK and the Costa de la Luz is the best climate and the least developed of the Costas.

Alex said "At the end of the day this is what people want. It's a dream for so many to have a place in the sun. To retire to comfort, warmth and luxury. Atlantic Parks' success comes from offering all of this at a price people can afford."

Alex went on to say that to succeed in such a tough climate you need to stack the deck in your favour. He believes in giving more value to his clients that they can get anywhere else. "We offer a product that sells for twice the price in the UK and ours comes with guaranteed sunshine."

So how do you get the finance for such a project? It seems with a lot of hard work and dedication. After being turned down by the banks and let down by other offers Alex found an investment company with an open mind. His passion and belief in Atlantic Parks is infectious and it is easy to see how he might have generated interest in the business.

"I have a great accountant and together we built a solid 5 year business plan. From this plan I was able to convince others what I believe- that this business has a fantastic future." Armed with history and a plan for the future a deal was struck. Months of due diligence later and a deal has been signed.

"This investment means that we can move forwards and build the best development possible in a shorter time." Visitors to the park can see the hive of activity that it is. A new entrance is being built as well as a new water treatment plant. This will enable the park to water their gardens with residual water; further bolstering the park's green credentials.

New lodges are going up at a rate of 4 a month now as sales continue to rise. Before long building on phase 2 of the project will be under way. I am sure that orders will continue to flow because this is such a wonderful way to own a holiday home in the sun.
