  • Orange County, CA (1888PressRelease) September 09, 2019 - The EMDR Research Foundation is pleased to announce its participation at this year’s EMDRIA Conference: Changing Lives, convening this September 12-15th. The conference aims to advance the educational and research efforts of EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) therapists to address the increasing global need for sustainable ways to cope with trauma and addiction.

The conference itinerary is packed with enlightening continuing education, plenary sessions, keynote speakers, and opportunities created to build community and awareness for EMDR. There will be a dynamic online component of the conference which is designed to support and connect EMDR therapists around the world. Amongst the talented speakers, Mackenzie Phillips, actress and author of High on Arrival and Dr. Gabor Maté, respected author of In the Realm of Hungry Ghosts: Close Encounters with Addiction, will be in attendance.

The conference will be honoring the memory of the late Dr. Francine Shapiro, the originator of EMDR therapy. The memorial will take place the evening of Saturday the 14th. This is the first conference since her passing. Her legacy of the development of these innovative EMDR practices is representative in this year’s gathering of the therapeutic community at their annual conference.

Shapiro was adamant that EMDR be thoroughly researched in order to provide effective evidence-based psychotherapy treatment to those who have experienced trauma. The EMDR Research Foundation is honored to work to fulfill her vision through their ongoing mission within the EMDR community. Their booth will be available to all who wish to get involved and give support to continue Shapiro’s legacy.
