  • Houston, TX (1888PressRelease) March 08, 2014 - Eight attorneys from the Houston office of Ahmad, Zavitsanos, Anaipakos, Alavi & Mensing P.C., or AZA, have been selected to the 2014 Texas Rising Stars list, which recognizes the state's top young lawyers.

    Partners Steven J. Mitby and Tim Shelby, along with associates Jamie Alan Aycock, Elizabeth Pannill Fletcher, Tiffany N. Joudi, Chris W. Lacy and Monica M. Uddin, were selected for the honor based on their Business Litigation work. Associate Alisa A. Lipski was chosen in recognition of her Intellectual Property Litigation practice. All the AZA attorneys selected to the 2014 Texas Rising Stars list represent both plaintiffs and defendants in complex commercial litigation.

    Mr. Mitby represents clients in intellectual property and complex commercial litigation, with a special focus on patent infringement and technology-related litigation. This is the fourth Texas Rising Stars selection for the cum laude graduate of Harvard Law School.

    Mr. Shelby routinely handles complex commercial litigation, energy litigation, securities litigation, trade secret litigation, professional liability matters, and real estate disputes. Also a graduate of Harvard Law, this is his sixth selection to the Texas Rising Stars list.

    Mr. Aycock's practice focuses on complex commercial and appellate litigation, including contract disputes, fraud and business torts. Another Harvard Law graduate, Mr. Aycock is on the Texas Rising Stars list for the first time.

    Ms. Fletcher's practice focuses on complex civil litigation, including antitrust, securities, employment, trademark, trade secret, commercial contract and tort disputes. A graduate of William & Mary Law School, this is her third Texas Rising Stars selection.

    Ms. Joudi is a commercial litigator who defends cases for large companies, including insurance, oil and gas, and software businesses. She earned her law degree from the South Texas College of Law. This is her inaugural appearance on the Texas Rising Stars list.

    Mr. Lacy focuses on complex commercial litigation, arbitrations and appeals. He graduated fifth in his class at the University of Houston Law Center. This marks his fifth appearance on the Texas Rising Stars list.

    Ms. Lipski is a seasoned patent lawyer who has successfully litigated patents covering software, communications, satellite, oilfield, and medical technology. She also earned her law degree from the University of Houston Law Center. This is her second selection to the Texas Rising Stars list.

    Ms. Uddin is a trial lawyer who focuses on complex commercial litigation. She graduated from the University of Chicago Law School, where she was a Levitan Scholar. This is her second appearance on the Texas Rising Stars list.
