The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) mandates that certified EHR vendors possess e-Prescribing technology as part of Meaningful Use compliance. The technical goal of e-Prescribing is to electronically send 'an accurate, error-free and understandable prescription directly to a pharmacy from the point-of-care.'
