  • San Francisco, CA (1888PressRelease) April 02, 2011 - In the Kitchen with Lisa announces its name is now Edible Excursions: Uncovering delicious treasures one bite at a time. This beloved Bay Area culinary walking tour business packed with insider stories will continue to be manned by CEO Lisa Rogovin. Alongside the new name, Rogovin is launching additions to her tour in San Francisco's famous Ferry Building where Marketplace and Farmers Market artisans and farmers are offering exclusive tastes available only to Edible Excursions' guests. Rogovin's culinary map also includes the culturally rich Mission District in San Francisco and a groundbreaking neighborhood of restaurants and shops in North Berkeley dubbed the "Gourmet Ghetto."

"The name change came about largely because so many people are under the impression that 'In the Kitchen with Lisa' is a cooking school rather than a culinary tour company," said Rogovin. "Edible Excursions better defines the essence of our business taking place in the heart of the Bay Area food scene each week as we take on a stronger vision to share something inspirational. And every season yields something inspirational. Not just a carrot but a rainbow of carrots. Tomatoes so tasty that people actually clap when it's Early Girl season, and conversely shed a tear when it's over," Rogovin concluded. Immediate steps to launch the new branding include additions to San Francisco Ferry Building Marketplace and Farmers Market Tour. There, possible tastes include celebrity chef Chris Cosentino's house cured fennel salame and freshly made mortadella at Boccalone Salumeria; artisanal chocolates from Recchiutti Confections and Scharffen Berger Chocolate where guests learn how chocolate is made; freshly baked Frog Hollow Farm tartlets made with seasonal fruits and vegetables grown from their farm in Brentwood, California; and award winning, organic cheeses from Cowgirl Creamery. In addition, guests have the opportunity to engage in informative discussions around seasonal ingredients and learn how they can cook with them at home.

Given the current economy, more and more people are opting to save money by taking "staycations." For Bay Area residents, Edible Excursions is a way to enjoy a unique activity close to home. Too, they are a way for travelers to eat like a local and experience first-hand the world renowned Bay Area food scene. Part of what makes Edible Excursions tours different from the rest is that Rogovin designed her model to consist of strolls through culturally and aesthetically rich locations where guests can sit and interact leisurely with business owners, artisans, and purveyors while sampling an abundance of local tastes.

It is Rogovin's experience which encompasses canvasing the globe to enjoy authentic food and wine experiences that helps differentiate her business in the marketplace. She sought out wine makers in New Zealand, cookbook authors in Thailand, restaurateurs in Turkey, coffee plantation owners and cooking school teachers in India, and many more people who have their hands and hearts deep into food and wine. After traveling all over the world where the eating and drinking were sublime, she concluded from her personal experience that the culinary scene in San Francisco was among the best in the world for its sheer quality of ingredients and pureness of food. She decided to create culinary experiences all over the Bay Area that both locals and visitors would enjoy. As a result, Rogovin left the corporate world and brought to life her passion for others to enjoy, always with a focus on the stories behind the quality and care from people who are dedicating their lives to preserving wonderful food in the San Francisco Bay Area.
