  • (1888PressRelease) August 15, 2010 - The Ecological Research Society PAKS is dedicated to raising global awareness of the natural treasures in the country of Croatia, and one of the ways they are doing so is by producing and releasing nature documentaries which are made available through their site naturedocu.com. Just as natural wonders all across the globe are facing daily threats, so too does the natural treasures in Croatia. Preservation efforts always begin with awareness, for with awareness come engagement and with engagement, the populace can develop a connection with their natural treasures, a connection that will encourage them to help with preservation efforts.

This sort of grass roots approach to preservation is the direction that the Ecological Research Society PAKS is taking in order to preserve the splendor of Croatia's natural sites. The efforts are all directed toward ensuring that future generations the world over can also partake in the appreciation of what Mother Nature has masterfully created in beautiful Croatia.

Preservation is sometimes a difficult concept to sell to people because they may not necessarily be aware of what is being preserved, and why preservation is necessary. Often, people give preservation little regard because they are neither informed nor emotionally engaged with the objects of preservation efforts. Therefore, with any preservation effort, often the first battle will be to win the heart and minds of people.

Winning the people over to the cause of preservation means that above all else, the object of the preservation must be made known to the people. Alongside this knowledge must come efforts to get the people to engage; that is, giving people information is not enough, preservationists must also make every effort to encourage the people to care enough to take action. This emotional engagement is the Holy Grail for many preservationists, and the good news is that in general people are good natured and genuinely will help a good cause.

In an effort to raise awareness and win public support, the Ecological Research Society PAKS has begun to develop and distribute nature documentaries that showcase the beauty of Croatia's nature preserves. Their first documentary is called "The Plitvice Lakes - The Journey of the Water" and it presents to the viewers the grandeur of the Plitvice Lakes, its underground galleries, the sixteen lakes that never run dry and so much wonder formed over thousands of years. The documentary is available for purchase at naturedocu.com. The uniqueness and splendor of the Plitvice Lakes has earned it a place in UNESCO's World Heritage List.

"We are promoting the Nature Heritage of Croatia in an effort to ensure its survival in the long run. One way we are doing this is through our Croatian Natural History Documentary Production "NatureDocu" and the documentary "The Plitvice Lakes - The Journey of the Water" is the first of many we plan to produce," notes Andjelko Novosel, secretary of the Ecological Research Society PAKS.
