  • Chicago, IL (1888PressRelease) July 12, 2010 - Eco-sealer, Inc. will ensure consumers have more choices in environmentally friendly products by providing ASI-300, a non-coal tar based commercial asphalt seal coat and Safe Seal, a residential asphalt driveway sealer.

Recently, the United States Geological Society released a study raising alarm about the dangers of asphalt seal coat containing COAL TAR, a known carcinogen, and its effects on humans. Almost all asphalt seal coatings sold in the Midwest have high levels of COAL TAR which contain polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAH). PAH's exposure is dangerous to humans and most people have exposure to it through settled house dust (SHD). SHD occurs when people walk on driveway and parking lots contaminated with COAL TAR. The exposure is particularly acute for children who spend a substantial amount of time on the floor and who put their hands and objects into their mouths.

Eco-sealer is the Illinois distributor for Advanced Seasonal Innovations, which created an environmentally safe and long lasting alternative to COAL TAR products called Safe Seal.

Located in Chicago and providing pavement maintenance services to Cook, Lake, Du Page and McHenry counties, Eco-sealer is the first to offer a cost-effective emulsion-based alternative to current COAL TAR products.

Eco-sealer, Inc. President Patrick Boyle is excited about proving this product to the Chicagoland market. "After we found out the health risk's caused by traditional sealers, we made the decision to seek out an environmentally friendly alternative" said Mr. Boyle. "We were very happy to discover Safe Seal by Advanced Seasonal Innovations, which uses recycled materials and has been extensively tested over the past 8 years. Now that Europe and a number of cities and counties across the United States have banned COAL TAR sealers and imposed fines for their use, it's time to get the word out in Illinois about the dangers" said Mr. Boyle. In addition to our environmentally safe sealer, we also have added "Green Patch" an environmentally safe pothole patching material which can be used year round.
