East Coast Freight Distribution Supports Sunshine Coast Dancer on World Stage
From a small dance studio on the Sunshine Coast to the grand stages of Paris, Jackson Smith-Leishman is living a dream few dare to imagine - and East Coast Freight Distribution (ECFD) is proud to have played a part in his journey.
- (1888PressRelease) October 29, 2025 - Jackson, who began dancing at just ten years old, has trained tirelessly in styles ranging from classical ballet to hip hop. His dedication and exceptional ability saw him successfully audition for the Prix de Lausanne, an internationally renowned competition held annually in Lausanne, Switzerland, for young dancers seeking professional ballet careers. Only six dancers were selected to represent Australia, and Jackson was among them.
As a finalist, Jackson received numerous offers from prestigious schools around the world before ultimately accepting a place at The Royal Ballet School in London. Leaving Australia to train at one of the world’s most respected institutions was a defining moment - but it also came with significant financial and personal challenges.
Recognising his extraordinary potential, ECFD provided vital financial assistance, helping to cover the costs of travel, training, and boarding. This support ensured Jackson could seize the opportunity to train with the best, perform on a world stage, and be seen by the most prestigious ballet companies. After graduating, Jackson’s hard work and focus were rewarded when he secured a professional contract with the Paris Opera Ballet, one of the most revered companies in the world.
Today, Jackson is performing in the iconic ballet Giselle - a timeless story of love, heartbreak, and forgiveness. He continues to represent not only his personal journey but also the Sunshine Coast community that believed in him.
