Dr. Rhett Silver, Named Interim Associate Director for EMP Traveling Physician Team

  • (1888PressRelease) May 24, 2011 - Board certified in Emergency Medicine, Dr. Silver joined EMP in 2004, serving as a fulltime attending physician in Stamford, CT, until 2007. At that time, Dr. Silver moved to Denver, CO, but continued with EMP as a travelling physician (Firefighter). From his base in Denver, he filled assignments in New London, CT, Tulsa, OK, and Evansville, IN. He subsequently relocated back to Chicago where he continued his association with EMP at various emergency departments, including St. James Hospital - Chicago Heights and St. James Hospital - Olympia Fields.

    Dr. Silver was critical in the opening of our novel Free Standing ER at Steele Creek, NC. While in North Carolina, he continued his work as an EMP Firefighter at several EMP emergency departments in the Charlotte area and at Brookhaven Memorial Hospital in Long Island, NY, and most recently, at Mercy Hospital Anderson in Cincinnati, OH.

    A top performer at all sites to which he has been assigned, Dr. Silver maintains high productivity combined with outstanding patient and staff satisfaction with regard to all of his assignments. For his continued excellence, he was honored with the "Firefighter of the Year' Award in 2009.

    Dr. Silver travels the world and is EMP's resident expert on adventure vacations. He enjoys snowboarding immensely and goes on an annual trip to the Andes Mountains in South America. Since he began his career with EMP, Dr. Silver has run The Great Wall of China Marathon. In addition, he has toured Cambodia, Vietnam and Tokyo. Also, he has visited many parts of Europe.

    Among other worldly adventures, Dr. Silver, utilizing his expertise as a scuba diver, explored the waters off Honduras and The Great Barrier Reef of Australia.

    After completing his undergraduate work at Northwestern University in Chicago, he attended The Medical College of Wisconsin Medical School in 1999. After an internal medicine internship at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City, Dr. Silver completed his Emergency Medicine Residency at Mount Sinai Hospital in NYC.
