  • San Francisco, CA (1888PressRelease) August 09, 2010 - The speakers and awardees for the upcoming California Hinduism Summit have been finalized. Investment advisor and Hinduism teacher, Easan Katir and Co-Founder of the Hindu American Foundation (HAF), Dr. Mihir Meghani are among the selected speakers and awardees of the 'Vishwa Hindu Ratna' (World's Jewel of Hinduism). This award is given for selfless service to humanity through Hinduism based values and solutions.

Rajan Zed, a recipient of the 'Vishwa Hindu Ratna' at the Washington DC Hinduism Summit last year, will be a speaker at this Hinduism Summit, too. He will be awarded the 'Vishwa Nagrik Adhikar - Dharmik Samta Hindu Shiromani' (World Civil Rights & Religious Equality Hindu Jewel) Award for consistently taking up civil rights and religious equality issues worldwide in the spirit of Hinduism.

The California Hinduism Summit will be held at the Sunnyvale Hindu Temple on 28 August 2010 (Shravan Krushna Chaturthi 5112 as per the Hindu calendar). It is being jointly organized by Sunnyvale Hindu Temple and Forum for Hindu Awakening (FHA), nonprofit, tax exempt organizations in USA. With blessings from Saints like His Holiness Sri Sri Ravi Shankar and ascetics like Sadhvi Ritambhara, there is growing interest in the Hinduism Summit.

The Hindu community is often misunderstood due to misconceptions, such as 'Hindus worship many gods', 'Hinduism propagates the caste system', 'Hinduism gives an inferior status to women', 'Hindu rituals are superstition', and so on. The presentations and exhibitions at the Hinduism Summit aim to dispel such misconceptions by promoting an understanding about the spiritual science behind Hindu practices, providing practical guidance on living Hinduism and creating awareness about issues facing Hindus, such as denigration of Hinduism and genocide of Hindus. The Hinduism Summit hopes to unite everyone interested in Hinduism to preserve Hinduism for its unique spiritual scientific basis that holds out concrete solutions to worldwide problems like the environmental crisis, religious intolerance, terrorism, crime and immorality.
