  • Wilmington, NC (1888PressRelease) December 09, 2013 - Damion Murrill has music in his blood. As a member of the GRAMMY Award and Stellar Award nominated family ensemble, The Murrills, Damion has been blessed by the success of the group and their Billboard Top 20 debut CD, Family Prayer. Now the Donald Lawrence protégé is stepping from the shadows into the spotlight with the upcoming release of his brand new single, "Kingdom Come". The choir-friendly anthem is perfect for Sunday morning and showcases the dynamic vocals of his group, Siloam, and the exceptional production and songwriting talents of Damion.

Damion feels the message of the song is life-changing. "'Kingdom Come' reminds listeners that when Jesus gave His life on the Cross, He brought back the Kingdom of Heaven to earth. I believe there are some things on earth we are settling for. We should realize that the Kingdom is here right now, but we must choose to live in it. Because we are seeds of Abraham, we are heirs to the Kingdom. God's Kingdom and the earthly realm operate with very different statutes. The earthly realm presents limitations, but in the Kingdom of God is limitless."

In addition to introducing Damion as a new artist, the song also presents Murrill's singing aggregation, Siloam. Comprised of sixteen gifted vocalists, Siloam has been singing with Damion for a few years now. The name of the group, which means "sent", comes from the biblical passage in John 9:7 where Jesus told the man who was blind from birth to "Go, wash in the Pool of Siloam". After the blind man followed those instructions, he received his sight. Murrill says, "I put together a group of talented singers from the surrounding cities of Wilmington, North Carolina and called them Siloam; it's important to me that they become a Spiritual Pool of Siloam.

The Christ within us has removed the veil of religion and carnality that has blinded us. Now that we've been washed in the water of the word, we can now become Apostles (which also means "sent") to open the eyes of others who have been blinded from God's truth. As they listen to our lyrics, we hope to direct them to the understanding of God's word, and all the benefits of the Kingdom that follow." The new single, "Kingdom Come", will be hitting radio in early 2014. The song is the first single from the debut CD by Damion Murrill & Siloam called Take A Stand, also dropping in 2014.

Damion's musical skills were honed by his mother and his mentor, GRAMMY, Stellar and Dove Award Winner Donald Lawrence. Taking Damion under his wing, Lawrence has been a huge musical influence on Murrill. They met years ago and connected at denominational events and Gospel music seminars. Prior to Donald becoming the mega-popular Gospel artist, songwriter and producer he is today, he promised Damion's mother, Evangelist J.R. Murrill, that when God exalted him, he would come back and bring the family singing group on board with him. Lawrence stayed true to his word and The Murrills have been present on numerous Tri-City Singers and Donald Lawrence & Company releases. Murrill has the utmost respect for the Gospel star. "It has been an honor to work with Donald Lawrence," says Damion. "He's the teacher who never stops teaching. It's amazing to watch him work. I remember him saying to me, 'Many people write songs, but few write songs that live forever.' I pray I get the opportunity to pen songs that stand the test of time."

As one of six singing siblings, there was never a shortage of music in the household. As the son of two preachers, church was a large part of Damion's life as well. As a youth, he learned to play many instruments and ultimately became a songwriter, producer and choreographer. Currently, the Minister of Music of Word Changing Hearts Ministries in Wilmington, NC, Damion has been blessed to work with or share the stage with industry veterans such as Tommy Sims, Kirk Franklin, Karen Clark Sheard, Mary Mary, Donnie McClurkin, PJ Morton and Walter Hawkins.
