  • (1888PressRelease) March 21, 2011 - Alexandra joins Hartnell Chanot & Partners with a wealth of experience in Domestic Violence law. Her previous role involved working with Plymouth City Council and partner agencies developing and running the 'Domestic Abuse Advocacy Project', with the remit to support victims in situations where they do not qualify for legal aid to gain protective order through the Family Courts. She is also a Fellow of the Institute of Legal Executives (F.Inst.L.Ex) and a qualified Independent Domestic Violence Advisor through the national charity CAADA (Co-ordinated action against domestic abuse).

Domestic abuse is far more common than anyone would care to admit. In the UK it is estimated, from the British Crime Survey, that 1.2m adults experienced domestic abuse from a partner or ex-partner in the last 12 months. (Source Parliament: Domestic Violence Statistics 2010).

Alexandra relishes her work because it allows clients to take back control of their life: "It is important that clients make their own decisions during the time I work with them. My role is to empower them with the right information to take control, both during the case, and beyond."

Alexandra went on to say: "The reason I was so keen to join Hartnell Chanot & Partners was because the client is central to their operations. This is exactly the approach I take with my clients and I am thrilled to be working alongside such a well respected team with the same ethos."

Rachel Buckley commented: "We are delighted to welcome Alexandra to our Plymouth team. Her wealth of experience and approach will be of huge benefit to our clients. We believe her approach will lead to more victims having the confidence to come forward and take back control of their lives."
