  • (1888PressRelease) August 11, 2011 - SEATTLE - DocuSign® (www.docusign.com), the world's most trusted electronic signature network, announced today that it has appointed Keith Krach, the company's chairman of the board of more than two years, to also be CEO. Krach is a Silicon Valley veteran. He co-founded Ariba (ARBA on NASDAQ) in 1996, serving as CEO and chairman of the board for seven years. Under his leadership, Ariba not only pioneered the business-to-business (B2B) e-commerce industry, but also grew rapidly to become the dominant global player. Krach took Ariba public, ultimately achieving a market capitalization of $34 billion and becoming one of the fastest growing software companies in history.

In honor of his accomplishments in e-business, Ernst & Young named Krach the 2000 National Entrepreneur of the Year, the same year in which he was honored at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, with the Technology Pioneer Award.

"Keith is a world class leader who drives organizations to achieve escape velocity," said Pete Solvik, DocuSign board member and managing director of Sigma Partners. "I had the pleasure of working closely with Keith as one of the earliest Ariba customers, and witnessed the rapid growth and market adoption of the company's products under his leadership. Keith is a visionary who engages and inspires high performing teams to deliver customer-focused innovation and exponential growth."

Krach succeeds Steve King as DocuSign CEO. "Under Steve's leadership, DocuSign achieved major financing, built a tremendous leadership team and made important advances in our broader market strategies to achieve 80% share of the cloud-based eSignature industry," commented Tom Gonser, founder and chief strategy officer at DocuSign.

"I couldn't be more pleased to pass the leadership baton to an executive of Keith's caliber," said Steve King. "Keith has been a strong advocate during my tenure as CEO. I look forward to supporting Keith and seeing the continued success of the DocuSign team."

Krach has a long history of technology leadership, starting with being GM's youngest-ever vice president at the age of 26 after earning his B.S. degree in industrial engineering from Purdue University and MBA from Harvard University. He has served as an executive and a member of the board of directors for numerous companies ranging from software to clean technology. Krach currently serves as the chairman of the board of Angie's List and Purdue University.

Keith has a long track record of leadership and building startups into industry leaders," said Gonser. "Keith's leadership comes at the right time for our next phase of hyper growth."

"I am honored to serve as the chairman and CEO of DocuSign," said Keith Krach. "The eSignature market is at an inflection point and going mainstream. With DocuSign's world-class team, we are poised for incredible growth in the coming years. I look forward to building on the important work Steve accomplished during his tenure by expanding our global network to ensure that DocuSign remains the industry standard for companies and individuals everywhere."
