  • (1888PressRelease) November 04, 2010 - This two part series will be presented commercial free and there will be several topics addressed covering a wide spectrum of areas surrounding green building. From "cool roofs" to insulation and indoor air quality, Shades of Green will explore it all. Broadcast is internally scheduled for this March and will run on a combination of national and international cable networks.

"The driving force behind this episode is to highlight the latest trends and advancements in the world of sustainable building design and construction," said Jeremy Myers, producer for the series. "Green is not just a color or a movement; it is a way of life. Our goal with this episode is to educate the television audience as well as the construction industry on the environmental, financial and social benefits of green building," he added.

Chad Densen, production manager for the series said, "Take cool roofs for example, when people think about making their home more "green" or ecologically sustainable, cool roofing isn't always the first thing to come to mind. However, certain green building programs, such as the U.S. Green Building Council's LEED, give credit for installing a cool roof. So if you are trying to save energy or make your home more environmentally-friendly, a cool roof is one way to achieve that goal."

According to United States Secretary of Energy, Dr. Steven Chu , "Cool roofs are one of the quickest and lowest cost ways we can reduce our global carbon emissions and begin the hard work of slowing climate change. By demonstrating the benefits of cool roofs on our facilities, the federal government can lead the nation toward more sustainable building practices, while reducing the federal carbon footprint and saving money for taxpayers."

Shades of Green is an exciting and comprehensive program dedicated to defining and exploring today's latest advances in all areas of sustainable living. Developed through the real life experiences of industry experts and organizations that are leading the way, this series combines scientific and clinical data with poignant story telling, to deliver the best and most accurate information for our viewers. DMG Productions and Shades of Green are not affiliated with any particular network or organization.
