  • (1888PressRelease) February 22, 2013 - Leading lights from NASA, Google, Microsoft Research, ARM, McLaren and other international corporates - plus researchers from global universities - feature in the inaugural nerveconference and expo in June 2013.

The aim of nerve is to provide a platform for companies, entrepreneurs and investors determined to build sustainable businesses or knowledge-based ecosystems based on innovation.

The event also carries a legacy - identifying opportunities for convergence across technology sectors between companies, as well as identifying new business models capable of underpinning sustainable growth strategies.

The summit is Cambridge's first showcase of genuinely game-changing technologies and has generated buy-in from global speakers and panelists with cutting edge expertise across a broad canvas. It is organised by Business Weekly in association with the University of Cambridge - and is also backed by corporate big-hitters, including ARM.

Nerve promises to rip up the blueprint for entrepreneurs charged with building businesses or technology ecosystems - and securing funding to commercialise them.

The programme at the Corn Exchange and Guildhalls from June 25-27 is an interactive amalgam of keynotes, expo and panel sessions, mixing the fundamental with the fantastic.

Concepts on the agenda include NASA space research on developing Star-Trek style warp drive; trailblazing advances in human-machine convergence; artificial intelligence; stem cell science; regenerative and personalised medicines; wearable computing; robots & drones; autonomous vehicles; low carbon technologies and nanotech.

Speakers include Google's innovator in counter-terrorist culture and technology, Michele Weslander Quaid; NASA warp drive pioneer Harold 'Sonny' White; cybernetics trailblazer Professor Kevin Warwick; and Seth Goldstein - a pioneer in claytronics.

Nerve will not simply showcase disruptive technology but also demonstrate how 'killer' plays can be commercialised.

Global influencers join Cambridge UK technology icons including Microsoft's Andrew Blake, transatlantic angel Sherry Coutu, and global business builders Mike Lynch, Sir Chris Evans and Hermann Hauser among the speakers. International technology companies will offer demos that provide an insight into future developments.

Next generation entrepreneurs working on disruptive technology are not forgotten. Business Weekly's sister organisation for startups, CambridgeElevator.com, will be launching at Nerve a new initiative to identify collaboration opportunities between startups and established companies.

Dr Hauser - a member with Bill Gates of the Silicon Valley Visionary of the Year hall of fame - said: "Nerve showcases global plays that will change the lives and working habits of companies and individuals everywhere. Delegates will see how the health and lifestyles of people on this planet will be affected by disruptive technology. It is a groundbreaking and exciting concept -certainly a first for Cambridge."
