  • (1888PressRelease) October 17, 2013 - DIRE Studio releases ShutterCount, a utility program that displays the number of shutter actuations (the shutter count) of select Canon EOS digital cameras. The shutter count is read directly from a USB-connected camera, and thus provides accurate numbers that are not attainable with simple EXIF-based methods.

With ShutterCount one can easily check whether a newly purchased camera is really new, or check how heavily used a pre-owned item is. And also can save a trip to a Canon Service Center by doing the reading personally.

The app provides unlimited readings for an unlimited number of cameras, so users can freely track actual camera usage. Even if they work for a rental house or just lend a camera to a friend.

ShutterCount only displays the shutter count for still photos - video clips recorded are not included in the number. For a separate mirror movement reading (that includes videos) users still should consult an authorized Canon Service Center.

    REQUIREMENTS
The app requires a 64-bit Intel Mac, with OS X 10.6.8 or later installed.
For the list of supported cameras please visit the app's home page at: http://www.direstudio.com/shuttercount

    PRICING AND AVAILABILITY
ShutterCount is available immediately for $1.99 (EUR 1.79) on the Mac App Store through the address: http://www.direstudio.com/buy/shuttercount

This is an introductory price valid through October 30, 2013.
