    Dionies pronounced [dahy-oh-nees], is the concept of young Xavier Grimes who in 1984 chose a name that he defined as "Great Success". He would soon learn of the Greek origin of the name, derived from the name of the God of Wine, Dionysus. His idea 35 years in the making, is about to become his dream of a lifetime. Grimes has witnessed the evolution and unfortunate demise of other brands in this market, and believes now is the perfect time to introduce Dionies to the world.

    But as fashion evolved, and while some brands have come and gone, Grimes continued to stand firm to the belief in his dream. "I drew my first sketch of Dionies when I was about 13 years old. I just wanted to bring something new to the world and figured I could. At the time I perfected the art of shoe design by tracing other shoes and adding my own style until I sketched over thirty pair. I knew what I was creating could be the next Nike, but the timing wasn't right. I didn't have the available resources as I do now to really make it happen," he says. "Besides, there's an entirely new market out here wearing the same thing my generation wore when I was a kid. So it's time to introduce that market to something new. And I hope they are receptive."

    With hopes of becoming the next big brand, Dionies is in for a long journey with dreams of being the brand that will stand the test of time like other name brands. Grimes understands the obstacles that lay ahead and knows it will be an uphill battle to reach that level.
