  • Atlanta, GA (1888PressRelease) July 08, 2010 - Greenguard Environmental Institute is a Dimensional Design client whose mission is to protect human health and improve quality of life by enhancing indoor air quality and reducing people's exposure to chemicals and other pollutants.

When people think of 'interactive' at a tradeshow, they generally think of touch screens and prize wheels. Based on the Greenguard marketing team's concept, Dimensional Design created an exhibit that show attendees could physically touch and actually take a piece of the exhibit with them. The idea was to have 2" clear plastic balls that contained messages about the importance of air quality and sustainable design mounted into a back wall and reception desk. The spheres would be representative of clean air molecules and would offer an experience that was memorable and easy to understand.

The fabrication challenge that DD faced involved creating the optimum configuration for the balls to fit into the booth wall without the need for adhesives. They needed to be easily removable and easy to open for show patrons to read the message inside. After several incarnations of spheres from gumball machine prize balls to Christmas ornaments, DD refined one of the options to fit.

The next challenge was to create a structure that could hold each 'molecule' without the need for adhesives. This all came down to the angle of the holes that were cut by the cnc machine as well as the curve of the wall itself as it came to meet the floor. After some debate and sample cuts, a design was chosen and executed that perfectly housed and showcased the molecules while allowing for easy removal.

At tradeshows, presenters have a very short period of time in which to get the attention of attendees. If you can get them in your booth, you might have 2 minutes to explain your company and product/service. The Greenguard exhibit performed both functions as it was eye catching and created an experience which explained through interaction and visual example the need for better air quality and sustainable design. This exhibit really proves that you can have impact in a 10x10 space.
