  • (1888PressRelease) March 18, 2013 - Dallas, Texas - Digital Miracles, L.L.C has announced that new features have been added tothe popular Digit-Eyes bar code scanner to enable customers to record their own information associated with any type of bar code: QR codes, UPC or EAN codes, Code 3-of-9 or Code 128. Additionally, the reader now processes the common vCard QR codes.

Digit-Eyes is a popular app that allows people without vision to scan labels with their iPhone, the new iPad or iPod Touch and find the meaning of a UPC or EAN code or to create and record their own labels. Digit-Eyes provides non-visual access to a database of over 34,000,000 consumer products in 10 languages.

"A number of our unsighted customers explained that they would like a feature that let them know when part of a code was within the view of the camera" said Nancy Miracle, President. "We've added a feature that emits a distinctive audible tone that becomes faster as more of the code enters the view of the camera. This makes it much simpler to find codes without vision and using only the audio feedback.

"Additionally, many of our customers have asked us for a feature that would to allow them to record their own audio information for any type of label and we've added this to the standard feature set. The addition of customer information does not replace the information that may be provided to describe an item: product name, size, ingredients, nutritional information or preparation instructions. These are still available. But in addition, the customer can record their own content -- perhaps the date that the item was purchased, a mention of a favorite recipe or just a reminder to put the item on the shopping list! For customers who are running a small business that uses code 3-of-9 labels to identify their items, this is a chance to make those codes into 'talking labels' that are accessible without vision."

Additionally, the product has been expanded to read the increasingly-popular vCard QR code. The vCard QR code is a standard code that gives a summary of information on a business card. When found, the customer has the option to add this information to their contacts. Features have been added to the Digit-Eyes website to allow any visitor to create and save their own vCard QR code without charge.

The features are available as a single bundle for $19.95 or individually by loading a copy of Digit-Eyes Lite http://appstore.com/digiteyeslite and then selecting the exact feature that is required. Pricing starts at $1.95 for the code 3-of-9 reader and recorder.

"Our new product structure and pricing will allow customers to select exactly those products that they want and to pay for only those features," Miracle continued. "While we believe that most customers will want the all the options, it is a plus for those that just want a single feature to only pay for that one. And whenever the person is ready to do more, the individually-purchased products can be upgraded to the full product suite."

The new features are available to existing users as a free upgrade to their existing Digit-Eyes app.
