"A Christmas Gift" is a Collection of Christmas Standards and Songs of Faith

New York vocalist, actor , director Dick Pyatt has put together a Christmas Concert that evokes the warm spirit of Christmases past and features performances by well known Largo dancer and owner of Savoy South dance studio, Arlene Norman, the Junior Choir at the Palm Lake Performing Arts Center under the direction of vocal coach Terry Bartlett , pianist James Weaver and other surprises.

Performance date is Sunday, December 5, 2010 at 2 P.M. Tickets for the event are $20.00 and may be purchased in advance by calling 727-587-6751. Tickets are $25.00 at the door.

During the 1960/1970 years the high point of each television season was the annual Christmas show featuring stars such as Perry Como, Bing Crosby and others. They always created a warm and fun-filled family music celebration of the Christmas season.

"A Christmas Gift" by Dick Pyatt is based on the same structure and will be performed at the beautiful Tonne Playhouse of the Largo Cultural Center. Pyatt has been a favorite radio personality for over 20 years in New York City as producer and director of programming for WNYC-AM-FM radio and host of a weekly radio feature at WFAS in Westchester.

On stage, he has directed Susan Strasberg and Ruth Warrick in classic drama. As a writer, he has published three books on health and medical advances. He has also been on the faculty of numerous colleges in New York including Pace University, Elizabeth Seton College and Iona College teaching speech and media.

"Another work from the very talented Richard Pyatt." Ruth Warrick, star of "All MY Children." "Dick Pyatt, not only a talented news reporter, but he has a new book out and is a terrific performer." James Brady, columnist.

"I would like to extend my congratulations to you and wish you continued success on receiving the Public Health Association's annual Merit Award."--Edward I. Koch, Mayor, City of New York.

" His artistic style and rich baritone voice has been described by audiences as unique and a distinctly different sound in the popular music scene but reminiscent of the panorama of great vocalists that included the voices of Dick Haymes " - Martin Denton Editor, NYTheatre.

Included in this performance are traditional Christmas favorites such as Oh Christmas Tree, and Christmas Waltz. Expanding the spirit of Christmas, Pyatt includes songs of deep faith such as I Believe, Ave Maria, and Bless This House, and light Christmas classics such as High Hopes, and Do You Hear What I Hear?. Somewhat unique is the inclusion of Kol Nidre. Few popular music singers have included this dramatic and emotional traditional song of the Jewish faith.

Along with other songs listed, this is one of the highlights on Pyatt"s CD, "A Christmas Gift " released by DPP Productions.

"I took time to carefully select songs that would be appropriate to the season and to the need for feelings that inspire and give deeper meaning to our lives." I find it is difficult to locate new music for vocalists today that evoke the same quality and feelings as those of the masters,. said Pyatt.
