  • (1888PressRelease) November 20, 2010 - The company will show its Delcam for SolidWorks CAM system at the show for the first time and will also display new versions of its PowerMILL, FeatureCAM and PartMaker CAM systems. PowerMILL is Delcam’s software for high-speed and five-axis machining, while FeatureCAM offers fast and easy-to-use, feature-based programming and PartMaker provides a dedicated solution for Swiss-type lathes and turn-mill equipment. The latest release of the PowerINSPECT inspection software will also be on show.

Delcam for SolidWorks, which was recently awarded Certified Gold Product status by Dassault Systèmes SolidWorks Corp., includes comprehensive options for the programming of turning and mill-turn equipment, alongside the company’s industry-leading technology for drilling and two- through five-axis milling. This broad range of strategies allows users to program everything from basic lathes and mills up to sophisticated mill-turn equipment and five-axis machining centres, more quickly, more reliably and more easily than with other integrated CAM systems.

Delcam for SolidWorks is based on Delcam’s proven machining algorithms that are already used by more than 35,000 customers around the world. The software offers PowerMILL’s exceptional speed of toolpath calculation, plus the advanced strategies for high-speed and five-axis machining, to ensure increased productivity, maximum tool life and immaculate surface finish, even when cutting the hardest, most challenging materials. At the same time, Delcam for SolidWorks has the same strong focus on ease of use as FeatureCAM, including all of the knowledge-based automation that makes that system so consistent and reliable.

The 2011 release of PowerMILL makes the programming of fast but safe toolpaths easier than ever thanks to new stock-model-engagement options that protect both the cutting tool and the machine from excessive loading. Other enhancements include new editing capabilities to simplify the machining of duplicate items; more versatile control of feed-rates for leads and links; and extra functionality for sketching, plus the completion of the move to the new clearer forms for the complete range of strategies.

FeatureCAM’s high degree of automation gives faster and easier programming than other CAM systems. The 2011 version of the software incorporates improved data exchange from a wider range of design software, the ability to use stock models to increase machining efficiency and new strategies across the complete program, from turning to five-axis machining. The program also features a more modern interface to make programming easier than ever. All these developments will ensure that FeatureCAM retains the leadership in programming speed and ease of use it has held since its launch in 1995, when it was the world’s first feature-based programming system.

Major highlights of the 2011 release of PartMaker include more powerful milling functionality, new specialist turning routines, a more flexible tooling library, improved simulation of unique machine tool architectures and a host of additional productivity enhancements. PartMaker also offers the option for a direct interface to PowerMILL. Toolpaths generated in PowerMILL can be imported directly into PartMaker, where they can be manipulated and synchronised on PartMaker’s Process Table, and simulated and post-processed directly from the PartMaker working environment.

The new release of PowerINSPECT incorporates automatic surface inspection and the ability to use GD&T data from CATIA models, plus improvements to the handling of point cloud data and changes to the interface to make the software even easier to use. These enhancements will help PowerINSPECT to retain its position as the world’s leading hardware-independent inspection software. It combines the ability to work with all types of inspection device with a comprehensive range of inspection routines for making simple measurements, for inspecting geometric features and for checking complex surfaces.
