  • Los Angeles-Long Beach, CA (1888PressRelease) September 26, 2012 - Award winning composer Daniel Licht returns to score his seventh season of Showtime's Emmy Award winning hit series Dexter, premiering Sunday, September 30, at 9:00PM ET/PT. Licht recently received a standing ovation when he performed and conducted his music from Dexter with a chamber orchestra and choir at a sold out concert in Hollywood, with a special introduction by Michael C. Hall. Licht performed using original instruments including wine glasses, duct tape, surgical tools, metal saws, scalpels, and bone percussion instruments. Due to numerous requests Licht will be performing an encore concert of his macabre music featuring music of Dexter on October 29, 2012 at Largo at the Cornet in West Hollywood. The score album for Dexter season 6 will be released on September 25, 2012.

Dexter is based on the novels by author Jeff Lindsay that follows the life of Dexter Morgan, played by award winning actor Michael C. Hall. Dexter works for the Miami Metro Police department by day and by night is an idiosyncratic serial killer, only killing those who fit the precise "moral code." Hall commented on the series stating, "The music plays a key role in the show. I feel like it's a fundamental part, as much as any character. The aural landscape that Dan creates, -- it really sets the tone for us. It is a fundamental part of the show's aesthetics."

Daniel Licht's techniques of playing instruments are anything but traditional; playing upside down, sideways and with human bones. Licht stated, "In each season, there's a new villain or love interest that brings a new series of sounds and a whole new language and themes." I like to create a psychological affect by using different instruments for different people, but there's always a basic musical core sound to the series."

Daniel Licht has built a solid reputation for original instrumentation in both film and television composing. Licht is currently scoring NBC's new midseason drama Infamous and recently scored the award winning video game Dishonored, releasing October 9, 2012.. His other composing credits include, Stephen King's Thinner, Cowboy Up, The Winner, Dumbstruck, Splendor, Children of the Corn II, ABC's Body of Proof and Konami videogame Silent Hill: Downpour. In January, Licht was named "Composer of the Year" at the Third Annual Horror Awards in Moscow, Russia.
