  • New York, NY (1888PressRelease) March 21, 2012 - Daniel Levy, founder and CEO of ManhattanHomeDesign.com, is the winner of the U.S. Small Business Administration's 2012 "Entrepreneurial Success Award of the Year" for the New York District Office. Levy, selected for this prestigious award from a large pool of applicants, is thrilled about the nomination. "In a city such as New York City, full of successful entrepreneurs, It truly has been an honor to be chosen as Entrepreneurial Success of the Year, -- a most humbling experience."

In 2001, Levy immigrated to the United States knowing no English and with very little capital. With high aspirations for entrepreneurial success, he started ManhattanHomeDesign.com, an online company that sells modern design furniture, with just $500 start-up capital.

Today Manhattanhomedesign.com is doing 100,000 times better than when it started. In 2010, Levy was selected from thousands of applicants to participate in the Goldman Sachs "10,000 Small Businesses" program. Taking advantage of what he learned from business tycoons like Warren Buffet and Goldman Sachs CEO Lloyd Blankfein, Levy has taken great strides in ensuring his company not only survives but thrives during this recession. Being a part of the program helped Levy land a $200,000 contract to provide bistro tables and chairs in iconic locations such as Times Square, Bryant Park and Union Square.

Believing education is key to his success in business, Levy enrolled in several workshops last year including NYC Small Business Services' Corporate Alliance Program and their educational program with the NYU Stern School of Business Strategic Steps for Growth. Last year, he also received HubZone and DBE certifications with assistance from LaGuardia and Bronx SOBRO.

Compelled to give back to the community, Levy has begun building a relationship with nonprofit organizations. Last year, he teamed up with Google and Susan G. Komen for the Cure in an effort to raise funds for breast cancer awareness. In January, he partnered with Team Fox of the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research.

Levy has big plans for ManhattanHomeDesign.com in 2012: Currently working on adding new products to be launched this spring and an interior design competition for students in New York City launching in March. Levy reflects on his journey thus far stating, "It really is a nice feeling to be able to walk to Times Square and sit down on one of my chairs; it's a dream come true".
