  • Dallas, TX (1888PressRelease) May 25, 2012 - Big Brothers Big Sisters is inviting all of Dallas-Fort Worth for a trip down Bourbon Street as it hosts its premier annual event benefitting mentoring on June 2, 2012 at the Palladium Ballroom in Dallas. "The Big Night in the Big Easy" will be a jazz-infused Marti Gras celebration featuring a Louisiana-inspired gourmet dinner prepared by Chef Bob Stephenson of Cool River Café, live music by the Bourbon Street Band, a silent and live auction, and much more New Orleans-style fun. The event is open to the public.

What began as a pre-golf tournament get-together nine years ago has grown into a one-of-a-kind gala that's known for a fun and exciting crowd, crazy costumes, and an atmosphere unlike any event in Dallas.

New this year, participants will have an opportunity to see firsthand how their donations to Big Brothers Big Sisters make a difference in little North Texas lives. The evening's festivities will kick off with a "Parade of Littles." The youngest participants in the program will decorate their own wearable parade floats, and then show off the creations with a procession through the ballroom complete with music and beads for all.

Funds raised through "The Big Night in the Big Easy" will directly impact more than 2,000 children currently waiting for a Big Brother or a Big Sister in the Dallas area. Each $500 raised will remove one child from the waiting list and match them to a mentor who will enrich, empower and encourage them to reach their highest potential.

Sponsors for this year's event include Cool River Café, Bright Realty, Swagg Magazine and FastSigns.

Big Brothers Big Sisters is a donor-supported youth mentoring organization that places caring adults in the lives of children in one-to-one mentoring relationships. Through the positive impact of those friendships, children with a Big Brother or Big Sister are more likely to graduate from high school and less likely to begin using drugs, begin using alcohol or engage in negative behavior.
