Dairy Farm, Kuje celebrate Lagos State-GTBank Principal’s Cup Victories

  • (1888PressRelease) June 07, 2012 - In the male category, Dairy Farm Secondary School defeated their neighbours, Sango Senior Secondary School 1-0, while Kuje Senior Secondary School humbled CMS Senior Secondary School, Bariga 2-1 in the female category played at the Teslim Balogun Stadium in Surulere, Lagos.

    Stephen Odey of Dairy Farm School was the match hero, when he converted an 85th minute free kick to send their colleagues, teachers and Principal of the school into wild jubilation.

    After the game, the students of Dairy Farm could not controlled their emotions as they invaded the pitch to rejoice with their players.

    Dairy Farm School Coach, Bala Madaki, expressed gratitude to God for the victory. He admitted that the game was keenly contested but the best team won.

    Meanwhile, students of Kuje Senior Secondary School, who came in large number to cheer their school team to victory also went home as winners. Chika Emenike, who scored the brace for her school dedicated the goals to her school mates who supported the team throughout the school sports championship. Kuje School’s Chief Coach, Oguntimehin Magnus, said the school will continue to celebrate the victory throughout this week.

    Lagos State Commissioner of Youth and Sports, Enitan Oshodi, who represented Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola at the event, applauded the display of all the finalists, saying that this year’s Principal’s Cup, sponsored by GTBank, was better organised and lived up to expectations.

    He charged the students to remain focused in their studies and shun social vices that could tarnish the image of their families, schools and the state.

    Lagos State Commissioner for Education, Mrs. Olayinka Oladunjoye, Managing Director of GTBank, Segun Agbaje and other dignitaries watched the colourful final ceremony.

    The two winners were given the sum of N1million with two giant trophies.
