Upon their arrival in Istanbul, Juale Mercan and Alexander Wynands handed over an electric charging post with impressionist decorations and a message from the Managing Directors of RUHR.2010 as a present to Sekib Avdagic.

Sekib Avdagic commented: "Thank you to RWE for making this cultural and electric driving bridge possible. I am looking forward to driving an e-car myself in the near future. What Juale Mercan and Alexander Wynands have achieved is quite remarkable. They’re wonderful ambassadors for these important topics.“

Andreas Radmacher also extended a warm welcome to the driver crew: “I am convinced that our two drivers have gained lasting impressions along the tour and especially here in Istanbul. This tour will also provide additional momentum to electric driving.”

The tour aimed to demonstrate both how suitable electric vehicles are for everyday use under difficult conditions and to build a cultural bridge between the two European Capitals of Culture 2010. Carolin Reichert was fascinated by the very emotional and friendly reception in Istanbul. “Carbon-neutral mobility is particularly important in the megacities of this world – just like here in Istanbul – to safeguard the quality of life for the population on a lasting basis. The electric car in combination with electricity generated from renewables is currently the only solution fit for practical use. We would be delighted if we could contribute to the breakthrough of this forward-looking technology in Turkey, too."

After the official ceremony, numerous interested citizens of Istanbul took a brief test drive with the Teslas.
