  • (1888PressRelease) November 30, 2010 - The contract, which was awarded during CSC’s fiscal 2011 second quarter, has a two-year base period, one three-year option period and two one-year award periods, for a contract period up to seven years.

The HRS is the principal mechanism EPA uses to place uncontrolled waste sites on the NPL. The NPL is a list of approximately 1,280 abandoned hazardous waste sites considered to pose long-term threats to human health and the environment via contamination in ground water, surface water, soil or air.

Under this contract, CSC will provide technical, logistical and information management support to assist EPA in evaluating hazardous waste sites throughout the United States. This work will help identify those sites that pose the highest relative threat to human health and the environment for further investigation and cleanup.

“We are pleased to continue our 18-year relationship with the EPA on this contract, bringing together geologists, chemists, biologists, statisticians and information analysts to develop innovative approaches to evaluate the hazardous waste sites,” said James W. Sheaffer, president of CSC’s North American Public Sector. “In performing this work, CSC proudly supports the EPA’s mission to protect human health and the environment.”
