  • (1888PressRelease) August 02, 2010 - Springfield, VA - A whole lot of Hooah! was passed around the weekend after July 4th when the NOVA Blue Star Mothers joined forces with the Vietnam Veterans of America - Baltimore Chapter and the Yellow Ribbon Fund for a cookout to raise funds and good times.

Deborah McCusker, a NOVA Blue Star Mom, helped by donating seven HOOAH! Buttons to help raise funds for the Yellow Ribbon Fund. The Yellow Ribbon Fund (YRF) is a charity that primarily helps returning American servicemen, injured during active service, who are recovering at Walter Reed Army Medical Center and Bethesda Naval Hospital. The YRF helps recovering service members through various events and programs, arranged by staff and volunteers, aimed to help the patients and their families enjoy the community.

"I purchased and donated them myself but I kept the eighth one for my son", shared McCusker. McCusker is a member of the NOVA Blue Star Mothers, a group formed during World War II to provide support to mothers who had sons or daughters in active service in the war. Today, the organization provides support for active duty service personnel, promotes patriotism, assists Veterans organizations, and participates in homeland volunteer efforts.

Taking place at the historic Malogne House Hotel located on the grounds of Walter Reed Army Medical center, many enjoyed fellowship, good food, and making a lot of HOOAH!
