  • Nashville, TN (1888PressRelease) June 20, 2012 - Tim Eldred, LEO Chaplain at Rutherford County Sheriff's Office, has been selected as a Professional Member of the Covington Who's Who Executive and Professional Registry. The selection recognizes Tim Eldred's commitment to excellence in Servant Care.

Eldred, who served in the National Guard from 1956-64, became an ordained minister in September of 1974. He served in church positions as a minister of youth, music and education, evangelist, associate pastor, and pastor.

After working as a pastor for a church in Tennessee and discovering that he wanted to work with emergency personnel, Eldred led the establishment of the Emergency Personnel Support Team serving meals to emergency, fire, and law enforcement officers in Middle Tennessee. In 2001, he became the Chaplain for the Rutherford County Sheriff's Office and member of the National Sheriff's Association Chaplaincy Committee. In 2003, he oversaw the establishment of Christ's Servants Baptist Church, and was given the privilege of overseeing the Christian Law Enforcement Summits held in North Carolina and New Mexico for Life Way in 2004. In 2010, the Madison County Sheriff's Office in Huntsville, Alabama assigned him in the development of its own Law Enforcement Officers Chaplaincy program. In 2011, the Christ's Servants Church body assumed sponsorship of the Summit program and commissioned six law enforcement individuals from around the country to join Eldred in the leadership role of continuing the law enforcement summits as the Christian Law Enforcement Family Mission Team.

Having received specialty training in suicide prevention, family stabilization activities, critical incident stress, debriefing training, and continued development in stress care, Eldred has learned the value of proper counseling, training, and experience in his field.

"Learning to listen to the officers instead of ambitiously giving advice is the only way to earn the trust of the officers in blue," Eldred said. "The proof is in the constant communication from the officers to me."

With hopes of continuing to develop the Christian Law Enforcement Summit Family Mission Team and its leadership of the CLE Summits, Eldred will continue developing additional chaplains for the Rutherford County Sheriff's Office.

Eldred is the recipient of the 2012 Chaplain of the Year Award from the National Sheriff's Association, which will be awarded to him on June 18 during the NSA Convention in Nashville, Tennessee.
