  • Minneapolis-St. Paul, MN-WI (1888PressRelease) June 16, 2013 - Patricia Lydia Wilson, Owner of Wilson Consulting, has been selected as an Honored Member of the Covington Who's Who Executive and Professional Registry. The selection recognizes Patricia Lydia Wilson's commitment to excellence in Healthcare.

Patricia Lydia Wilson earned her BS in Chemistry with a minor in English from Minnesota State University, followed by a Master's in Social Work from the University of Iowa. She is a certified substance abuse professional and licensed independent social worker who began working in 1981 for Human Affairs International, a national employee assistance program and managed mental health company. She worked for them for fifteen years in four different states opening offices and developing business in various locations across the US.

Ms. Wilson has worked in a variety of different settings since that time, including at a shelter for adolescents, working with a program called Teen Screen, which does depression/suicide screening in high schools, and now currently serves at a residential facility for chronically, mentally ill clients supporting them in the return to their communities. As a qualified trainer on a variety of subjects where employers can use her skills to enhance their work environment, Ms. Wilson is also a licensed therapist. She provides short-term therapy to individuals seeking counseling, assessments to people to determine what services they would most benefit from, is involved in speaking engagements where she discusses mental health services available within the community, and is also a certified trainer to emergency providers after a major critical incident.

Inspired by a great mentor, Otto Jones, Ms. Wilson said, "His philosophy was to worry first about the needs of customers and clients, then determine the financial issues that are involved in the services. In other words, people first, money second. His philosophy has continued to be the inspiration I use today."

Although Ms. Wilson's career is beginning to wind down, she plans to work for a few more years by working with local companies to assist them in improving their work environments and to work with clients to help restore them to their highest level of functioning.

A member of National Association of Social Workers and Critical Incident Stress Management Association, Ms. Wilson has also been recognized in her field a number of times. She earned a Governor's Award for work with the NYPD following September 11th and she also served as the clinical director for a group of people who provided service to the Iowa National Guard to service men, women, and their families upon return from deployment by minimizing the effects of PTSD on soldiers and their families.
