Mark Spitz, who earned his BS in Business and Marketing at the University of Maryland in 1985, began working immediately after college for an office products company in their management training program. He's been in the same line of work ever since.
Beginning in the retail aspect of the business, Mr. Spitz maintained inventory, stocked shelves, worked with customers and customer service, delivered product, handled purchasing, plus a host of other responsibilities. Currently the owner of his own office product company, Vantage Office Products, he oversees all those aspects, in addition to the financial side of the business.
"There is nothing more important than the relationships I have with my customers," Mr. Spitz said. "My goal is to earn customers, become friends, and retain them forever."
With a philosophy that "a win for my customers is a win for me", Mr. Spitz learned early on from his father and grandfather that there is nothing more important than family. So by being diligent at work, he is able to provide a comfortable life for his family.
Mr. Spitz also believes that business is broken up into three stages: learning, earning, and giving back. Having just reached the age of fifty, Mr. Spitz is ready to enter that third aspect of his professional career and hopes to be able to give back to others less fortunate by volunteering locally and also by training individuals and helping them to grow and succeed in life, which is very rewarding for him.
