  • Oklahoma City, OK (1888PressRelease) May 16, 2014 - Lorrie Suenram Servati became an autism advocate, ironically, several years before her youngest son was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder, also known as ASD. She noticed a change in her son shortly after he was a year-and-a-half old, and it took nearly three years before she was given an explanation by a team of licensed school board child psychologists for her son's behavior.

After forming Nathan's Voice to help support her son's journey, Mrs. Servati's mission is to advocate and serve as a leader in her community to ensure that parents, grandparents, caregivers, and professionals have the access to resources, necessary support, and fellowship that they need. Three years ago, she started a blog, titled "Nathan's Voice", where she documents her son's progress, provides special needs resources, and helpful tips.

"I remember the feeling of isolation and helplessness that surrounded our family when our youngest son was initially diagnosed," Mrs. Servati remembers. "That is what motivated me to become an advocate, substitute teacher, and leader in the autism community."

Mrs. Servati is a member of Autism Society of America, a member and co-leader of AutismOKC.org, team captain for Family and Friends Autism Team Nathan's Voice, camp counselor for Camp Fire Heart of Oklahoma, and is also very active on numerous social media outlets like Facebook, Twitter, and Linkedin. Her current objective is to encourage local families and professionals to check out the AutismOKC.org support group for the benefits of education, fellowship and support. Her long-term goal is to continue promoting awareness, understanding, and acceptance of autism across the state of Oklahoma.

In addition to being a wife and mother to Nathan, Mrs. Servati also has three older children and two grandchildren.
