  • Los Angeles-Long Beach, CA (1888PressRelease) September 05, 2014 - Jody Hyun-Agustsson, Studio Artist, has been selected as an Honored Member of the Covington Who's Who Executive and Professional Registry.

Jody Hyun-Agustsson, the daughter of parents who were artists and musicians, has explored a lifelong career in art, drawing, and painting that has resulted in a joyous experience and lifetime of being able to master her craft.

Born in Los Angeles, California, Ms. Hyun-Agustsson earned an AA in Art and Art History at Santa Monica College, followed by a BA in Art and History at Loyola Marymount University, and an MA of Fine Arts at California State University-Long Beach, during which time she presented a Master of Arts Exhibition, titled 'Interior Abstractions', consisting of 14 drawings in May 1981. Since that time, she has exhibited her drawings locally, nationally, and internationally.

Recently, Ms. Hyun-Agustsson retired from her full-time career as a special education specialist. Since her retirement, she has been specializing in drawing and painting and she hopes to soon feature in area exhibits once again.

"My creations yield to an abstract world of empathetic forms," Ms. Hyun-Agustsson explained. "Solutions are developed with selected linear and value combinations and my drawing/painting themes follow anti-classical ideas with line remaining the vital core of each statement. I perceive a field in which abstract experiences can be realized through the use of objective elements of form."

In addition to several great artists of her time, Ms. Hyun-Agustsson was inspired greatly by her parents. Ms. Hyun-Agustsson's father was a graduate of Chouinard's Art Institute and played the piano, while her mother was not only an artist, she also played the violin.

Ms. Hyun-Agustsson's artwork has been featured in various exhibits dating back to 1981 where she first displayed her Master of Arts Exhibition at the California State University Graduate Center. She has since held exhibitions at the Twerenbold Gallery Exhibition in Luzern, Switzerland, at the Joslyn Center of the Arts in California, at the 30th Annual Chautauqua National Exhibition of American Art in New York, and at the Gallery Ruth Mentha Exhibition in Muri, Switzerland, to name a few.

Ms. Hyun-Agustsson holds several teaching credentials in the field of education.
