  • Jacksonville, FL (1888PressRelease) January 10, 2014 - Dr. Ron Strumbeck, who holds a BA in History from The Kings College, an MA in Teaching Social Science from the University of Delaware, and a Doctorate in Educational Theory from Rutgers University, and is certified in Guidance, Supervisor Adult Education, and Secondary Education, all through the state of Delaware, began working toward his career in education after serving in the US Navy from 1948-52 during the Korean War with the help of a GI Bill.

Starting out as an eighth grade teacher of American History, Dr. Strumbeck completed his master's degree in social science/education before starting his career as a teacher of eighth and ninth grade social studies. Having gone on to create a continued successful, fulfilling career in education, Dr. Strumbeck would serve as the dean/CEO of the Houston College extension campus, as adjunct professor at Trinity College, and as adjunct professor of graduate studies at the master's and doctoral levels for Argosy University. While dean of the Houghton College Buffalo Suburban Campus in West Seneca, New York, his tenured experience resulted in doubling the enrollment and within just four years the annual budget deficits during the previous eight years were replaced with a break-even annual budget.

"Thorough planning and incremental implementation is essential," Dr. Strumbeck said about his long and successful career in education. "The identification and selection of competent persons to assist in the implementation of tasks is key to completion and success. I have also learned to never start a task unless full completion is intended."

Dr. Strumbeck has been a devoted member of numerous professional organizations throughout his career, including the American Association of School Administrators, National Association of Secondary School Principals, Delaware Association State PTA Organization, National Association of Secondary Principals, Rotary Club, and Department of Education. He also served as president of the Department Staff Association, which consisted of 70 members, for two consecutive one-year terms during his second and third years of the professional staff. He is also a co-author of a book, entitled "Turning the Learning Corner".

At the age of 83 and now legally blind, Dr. Strumbeck is enjoying a relaxing retirement in a beautiful 55+ community called Advent Christian Village. The community consists of 800 senior citizens and is centrally located in the town of Dowling Park. His love for his wife, friends, and fellow residents all contribute to days filled with exceptional spiritual, medical, cultural, and cultural opportunities.
