  • Boston, MA-NH (1888PressRelease) June 01, 2014 - Daniel F. Sullivan, Accountant for the Massachusetts Department of Revenue, has been selected as a VIP Member of the Covington Who's Who Executive and Professional Registry. The selection recognizes Daniel F. Sullivan's commitment to excellence in State Government.

Daniel F. Sullivan, who holds a BS in Accounting from Bentley University, an MBA from Western New England University, and a second Bachelor's in Political Science from Excelsior College, began his career in 1985, just after earning his first degree, as a part-time bookkeeper and tax preparer for a suburban Boston law firm's clients.

Since that time, Mr. Sullivan continued to move up the ranks, landing a position working for the Massachusetts Department of Revenue in 1993 where he still works today. He has worked in the Budget Unit, Financial Analysis and Evaluation Unit, Revenue Accounting Unit, and the Accounts Payable Unit. For the last 16 years, he has been processing the department's vendor invoices for payment for goods and services purchased by the department. He has worked on numerous special projects during his tenure in the department, including processing tax returns during the peak filing season before taxpayers started filing their returns electronically. Mr. Sullivan does ongoing training provided by the Department of Revenue in various computer programs and personal development courses. He has also been lucky enough to have been able to surround himself with great supervisors and mentors who have encouraged him to advance in his profession.

"I've had very good luck in regularly interacting with colleagues from other bureaus within the MA Department of Revenue, including the Commissioner's Office," Mr. Sullivan admits. "During my two-year tenure as a legislative aide, I was mentored by fellow legislative aides for other state legislators of both parties and from the Governor's office on how to better serve the constituents of his former boss, the Honorable Christopher M. Lane."

Hoping to make a lateral transfer within the Department or another state agency where he can utilize his many years of experience as a staff accountant in both the private and public sectors, Mr. Sullivan hopes to eventually relocate to the metropolitan Phoenix, Arizona area and work for the Department as a satellite auditor in its Multistate Audit Division. Doing so will allow him to work mostly from home when he isn't traveling on business to perform corporate audits for firms in the western US. He also would consider obtaining a position as a senior staff accountant in either the private or public sector.

Mr. Sullivan is a member of Sons of American Legion, Knights of Columbus, and Junior Chamber of Commerce.
