  • (1888PressRelease) September 28, 2012 - Roseville, CA - Coversant's SoapBox Server and SoapBox Communicator utilizing the eXtensible Messaging and Presence Protocol (XMPP) for messaging, secure chat and presence has been approved by the U.S. Department of Defense and is now included on the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) Unified Capabilities Approved Product List (UC APL) by the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA).

Coversant was invited to participate in the certification process along with many large commercial US based software companies. Coversant's SoapBox Server and SoapBox Communicator are the only commercial software products approved that are built exclusively in the U.S.

"With Coversant's 7th generation of software and an enduring vision over the last 8 years this has put us in a position as the market leader for the next generation of software defined networking solutions." says Founder & CTO, Jason Frankel. "We are extremely proud and have worked closely with the XMPP Standards Foundation (XSF) to further the standardization of the protocol for the Intelligent Network"

XMPP is mandated by the DoD, for real-time communication including text messaging, multi-user chat, and the exchange of presence information. Coversant passed a series of rigorous interoperability (IO) and information assurance (IA) tests performed under real-life conditions by the joint interoperability test command (JITC) at their facility in Arizona, USA.

Coversant's SoapBox Platform is designed for next generation machine to machine (M2M) communication within the Intelligent Network. Coversant's software defined networking (SDN) solution is robust and agile which gives our customers the real benefit of flexibility in the network. It is powered by a multi-threaded 64 bit architecture that enables more than 250,000 concurrent connections and more than 120,000 messages a second on a single server. This allows SoapBox Server to move massive data sets for complex large scale federated deployments for the DoD.

"The rigorous DoD testing process is another point of validation for our software platform and continues to accelerate our leadership role in next generation of Software Defined Networking (SDN) solutions." states CEO, Jeff Cooke "We are sincerely appreciative of all the hard work by DISA to move this process forward."

Coversant appreciates the DoD's continued support of the XMPP protocol and the opportunity to serve our allied armed forces.
