  • (1888PressRelease) May 24, 2011 - New Delhi - Franchise India in partnership has taken an initiative to organize multiple CEO Retail Roundtables in various regions of India, which will be a network of business leaders and will express the views of large & SME retailers on a range of issues of common interest. The Forum will leverage the best practices with meaningful discussions on improving internal processes, gaining efficiencies and deploying new technologies. The first of the CEO roundtable took place in 12th May 2011 at Taj Lands End, Mumbai with leading technology solution provider, SAP and as managed by Ngage, a part of Franchise India.

Shaping the lines between Retail operations and technology retail, the summit saw a gathering of over leading 60 large & SME retailers from across West India. Some of the key speakers at the summit included Naresh Mehta, Director- Retail operations of Raymond; Mr Akhil Chaturvedi , Director of Provogue; Deepak Deshpande, Vice President - Retail, Tata International; Rafique Malik, MD for Metro Shoes Ltd; Sanjay Vakharia, Director - Brands, Spykar Lifestyles Pvt Ltd; Marco De Lorenzo, Head Consumer and Trading Industries APJ- Industry Business Solution Group.

Commenting further, Mr. Gaurav Marya, President, Franchise India said, "Today as retailers think national, they also need to think more locally. They also need to reflect more broadly in terms of opportunities for a given brand or store concept. Today, customers are less loyal, more informed, more critical and harder to retain than ever before. Shoppers are also doing their homework before they get to the store and can continue to do so through whatever mobile device they bring into the store. The industry needs to do a lot more work to figure out how to keep up with the customers, let alone being ahead of them. Retailers also need to align its back and front end to expedite business operation."

With rapid changes in technology, retailers also have to align with web, mobile and whatever else comes along over the next five years. Delivering a seamlessly integrated experience across all those touch points represents a tremendous change and challenge. The retail fraternity in India today requires unified thinking and a collective approach to open doors for retail organizations to change evolve and grow faster.
