  • (1888PressRelease) March 13, 2012 - An interesting tea exhibition opened recently at Corp Executive Hotel Apartment, Al Barsha, Dubai showcasing a variety of natural herbal teas and teapots from different parts of the world. The 10-day show will run unit March 16, 2012.

The objective behind the exhibition said, Aamir Pervez, General Manager, Corp Executive Hotel Apartments, Al Barsha is as much to show people the different types of teapots, that vary from one country to another, as it is to tell the history of tea itself.

Since the tea bag appeared at the turn of the 20th century and the vending machines not so long ago teapot sales have fallen dramatically around the world- by nearly 40 per cent in the past five years - and that the teapot itself is under threat. However, Aamir stressed, "Tea from a teapot always tastes best. The difference between tea bag tea and real leaf tea is a big one. The flavour in a teapot is better concentrated and controlled."

On show at the Corp Executive Hotel Apartments are 25 different kinds of teapots from the tea-loving nations.Aamir said, "Nearly all teapots around the world have been inspired from ceramic kettles and pots used in China thousands of years ago."

Tea first arrived in Britain in the early 1600s and remained a luxury until the end of the 18th century. The ritual of afternoon tea was a Victorian invention. As tea established itself right at the heart of British life, it became big business. However, the Chinese monopoly over tea trade was broken when in 1830s the British set up tea plantations in India, followed by Sri Lanka. Today India is one of the largest tea producers in the world. Tea is often served as 'masala chai' with ginger, cardamom and other spices. And as a nation, according to industry estimates, Britain consumes 150 million cups every day.

"Tea culture is defined by the way tea is made and consumed and many countries have got formal ceremonies for tea," said Dr Lixiaoling, one of the exhibitors at the show, "In China, as early as the Tang Dynasty, tea was for connoisseurs only. The first documented evidence of tea in Japan dates back to the 9th century, when it was taken by the Buddhist monk Eichu on his return from China."

One of the highlights of the exhibition is the herbal teas that have long been believed to have curative properties. Yilouhe Chinese Green Herbal Tea helps cure type 2 diabetes. Claims Dr Lixiaoling, who specialises in alternative medicines, "Three cups of Yilouhe Chinese Green Herbal Tea daily can dramatically improve diabetic cases, with many people recovering fully. It also helps in type 1 diabetes and prevents the onset of the condition in healthy people. The tea contains no toxic chemicals and has been developed from fenugreek, bitter melon and bee glue in combination with other herbs."

Adding a totally different dimension to the show is an irresistible rainbow of bubble tea flavours from Fruitealicious tea shop located in Dragonmart. Explains, Thomas Ang, Managing Director, Fruitealicious, "Red and Jasmine Tea, is served as bubble tea with or without milk - hot or chilled. Our menu offers a selection of fun & interesting variety of flavors for kids and adults including Assam Milk Tea, Honey Green Tea, Honeydew, Blue Mountain, Orange, Strawberry Milk, and Papaya Milk to even Ice Blended Chocolate.

Another participant is Good Morning Tea that offers premium quality tea distributed across the UAE in all major supermarkets, groceries and restaurants.

Said Jabir KP, "We provide finest quality tea to our consumers at reasonable prices under the brand name 'Good Morning Tea. Our tea is prized for aroma and finesse.
