    The Coronado Chamber of Commerce held its 73rd Annual Board of Directors Installation and Community Awards Celebration on July 22, 2010 at the Coronado Yacht Club. The theme was "Set your course-sail into the future" and also featured a silent auction. Other awards presented during the event included Fire, Police & Lifeguard of the Year and the Lewis R. Hardy, Jr. Memorial Award.

    The dinner included remarks from outgoing Chairman of the Board Dave Landon who discussed the importance of being invested in one's community. In presenting the award Landon, remarked, "Denise's dedication has been unmatched. She has worked relentlessly to ensure the Chamber is serving our member's needs - and has brought new business approaches to the organization." Denise's dedication to the Chamber was further evidenced by her bringing in over a dozen new members the past year. Landon further remarked, "She has been our main cheerleader, there has not been a single day during the past 12 months that this member has not been involved with Chamber business. Her dedication and enthusiasm is contagious."

    Denise has served as a volunteer for the Chamber since 2009, and has brought her charismatic managerial skill from managing the Coronado Ferry Landing, the premier destination for shops, art galleries, fine and casual dining in Coronado to the Chamber. As manager of the Coronado Ferry Landing, Denise's' job relies on the ability to build and foster relationships between businesses and the Coronado community. This experience has helped to shape her understanding regarding the importance of being invested in one's community.

    Denise also donates her time with community organizations including Coronado Relay for Life, Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer walks and the Coronado Republican Women. Upon receiving the award Denise stated, "I was caught off guard when I heard my name announced that I was selected as the volunteer of the year, I am honored."
