  • New York, NY (1888PressRelease) February 06, 2014 - Pure geometric form and vibrant hue dominate the colorfields of Swedish born artist Cecilia Setterdahl's bold works of acrylic on canvas. Using careful combinations of color, line and form, Setterdahl achieves brilliant balance through the synthesis of pattern and line from her daily visual field. By way of clean geometric shapes that stack and fold, swivel, meet and recede into void space, Setterdahl renders soothing and meditative pictures in the virtual visual plane with painterly ease.

Older works made in cubist fashion with gouache, oil and acrylic paved the way for her current more Zen-like approach to proportion and color combination. By accentuating the subtle and picturesque qualities of simple forms and bursting colors, Setterdahl breathes fresh life into the geometric mechanics of space and time.

Hailing from Ronneby, Sweden, contemporary artist Cecilia Setterdahl studied at Accademie Maximilien de meuron and MArt in Neuchatel. She has exhibited professionally since 1987 including solo and group exhibitions in Asia and the United States. The artist currently lives and works in Switzerland.
