  • (1888PressRelease) June 19, 2013 - TORONTO - The contest, which began today and ends on July 31, requires developers to write an application that digs into data in the D&B Developer Sandbox.

To enter the contest, developers must post an article on CodeProject that outlines their ideas, and then write an application that uses the plethora of data in the D&B Developer Sandbox. The Developer Sandbox is a mashup of business data that developers can use during the D&B Developer Challenge to plan and design their applications. The Sandbox is made up of 10,000 business records that gives developers a sampling of the kind of data available from D&B. This data is usually only available in logical groupings for specific verticals, however D&B is granting access to the wide variety of data that is available so that developers can stretch their imaginations to create new types of applications with the data.

The grand prize for the most innovative application is $15,000. Prizes of $10,000 and $5,000 will be awarded to the first and second runner-ups respectively. There are also ten $100 prizes to developers who come up with creative application ideas based on the data available in the D&B Developer Sandbox. The contest was designed to teach contestants and the audience how to use the D&B Developer Sandbox.

"Our members on CodeProject never cease to amaze me with the quality of entries that they submit to our developer challenges," said Chris Maunder, co-founder of CodeProject. "I'm looking forward to watching the applications that evolve from this unique opportunity to work with the massive amount of data that is available through D&B."

Throughout the challenge, D&B will be providing senior level support through live office hours. For more information, visit the D&B Developer Challenge page on CodeProject here.
