  • (1888PressRelease) November 03, 2011 - Top Nigerian Public Relations and Perception Management consultants CMC Connect (Perception Managers), was last Friday at the Lagoon Restaurant, Lagos, emerged Nigeria's Best PR Agency for the year 2011 for its outstanding works on local and international brands such as International Monetary Fund (IMF), MasterCard Worldwide, Nigerian Breweries Plc, Samsung West Africa and Hewlett-Packard (HP) West Africa, ASO Savings & Loans Plc etc.

    This came up at the second edition of the Golden Eagle Awards being organised by the Lagos state Chapter of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), the industry regulatory body.

    The industry leader also clinched the award for the Best Use of PR in the Print Media for the second time, consecutively. This time, CMC Connect won the award based on the evaluation of its successful promotion of the seventh edition of the Nigerian Breweries Plc' s Gulder Ultimate Search 7 in the print media last year. Gulder Ultimate Search 7, according to the award organisers "had a dominant share of voice in the press for the three months that the project was activated and was strategically pitched in the press".

    In the award category for the PR Practitioner of The Year, Male Category, the Managing Director/CEO of CMC Connect, Mr. Yomi Badejo-Okusanya, was declared the winner against other top industry practitioners nominated.

    The awards ceremony marked the end of the NIPR Lagos State Chapter 22nd Annual General Meeting and Conference. It witnessed the convergence of distinguished Nigerian and American PR practitioners in a colorful event at the Lagoon Restaurant in Lagos.

    Among dignitaries present at the ceremony were Mazi Mike Okereke, Ex. Chairman of NIPR and the icon of the Nigerian Public Relations industry; Hon. Abike Dabiri of the Federal House of Representatives and an erstwhile broadcaster; Fidelis Esima, Head of Marketing, Fidelity Bank Plc; renowned film maker, Mahmud Alli-Balogun; Alhaji Akeem Bello, Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Media; Colonel Kingsley Umoh, Director, Nigerian Military School of Communications.

    From the United States of America was Claudine Moore, the CEO of C. Moore Media, a New York based International Public Relations firm. Moore, who was a special guest at the occasion, has been listed in the UK 2010 Power list, a list of Britain's Top 100 Most Influential Black People as endorsed by the British Prime Minister. She has worked for Bank of America, Coca-Cola, Hewlett-Packard etc.

    Other winners at the awards ceremony include: TPT International for The Most Outstanding PR Campaign; Core Media for The Best Use of PR on Electronic Media; Federal Roads Maintenance Agency for The Best Use of the PR Department in Public/Government sector; Kunle Oshodi Glover's Glovrenco Nig Ltd won The Best Contribution to PR Education in Nigeria, while the Veteran Award for Excellence in PR Practice was given to Mazi Mike Okereke.

    Speaking while receiving the award, Assistant Director, Corporate Planning, CMC Connect, Mr. Raheem Olabode thanked the organizers for appreciating and recognizing the good works the company has been doing. . He went on to dedicate the awards to God, CMC Connect team and their clients.
