  • (1888PressRelease) July 04, 2018 - SANTA CLARA, Calif. — CLARA analytics (“CLARA”), a leading artificial intelligence (AI) and data science company that specializes in easy-to-use AI-based solutions for the property & casualty and disability insurance industries, today announced that industry veteran Thomas Ash has joined CLARA as senior vice president of sales and business development. Tom brings nearly 30 years of experience in healthcare, insurance and workers’ compensation to CLARA. He will play an instrumental role in the execution of CLARA’s aggressive growth strategy as the company scales to meet market demand.

“Through his distinguished career, Tom has made incredible connections within this market, which is ripe for disruption. He has an uncanny ability to not only get in front of decision-makers but to articulate and showcase the clear value proposition needed to close deals,” said Jayant Lakshmikanthan, president of CLARA analytics. “He has been on our radar for a long time based on his proven track record in strategy development and tactical execution, as his work has led to significant, sustainable and profitable growth for the companies he’s assisted. We believe Tom is the ideal hire as CLARA continues to introduce innovative, AI-based products to the myriad companies that need to streamline workers’ comp claims, provide better service, and significantly reduce costs.”

Tom joins the CLARA team after spending the past five years developing a very successful consulting business. As principal at Thomas Ash Consulting, he helped dozens of leading companies accelerate growth and profitability while dramatically improving service delivery and increasing customer satisfaction. Prior to concentrating on his consulting practice, Tom spent three years at Ametros Financial, where he served as executive vice president before ultimately becoming Ametros’ CEO. At Ametros, he ensured that the company’s Medicare Set Aside (MSA) CareGuard product became the preeminent professional administration tool for post workers’ compensation and liability MSA settlement protection. Additionally, Tom has served as vice president at Progressive Medical, Inc., national vice president at Kaiser Permanente, and subsidiary president at Health Net, Inc. as well as a division president at Interplan Health Group, president of the workers’ compensation division at First Health, and vice president and general manager at Occucare International.

Tom comes to CLARA after the company’s successful spin-off from parent company LeanTaaS last November. Since becoming an independent company, CLARA has raised $11.5 million in Series A funding and introduced a new product, CLARA litigation. The company has also increased its customer base by 180%.

“I was really enjoying the work I was doing in my consulting practice until I saw the rare opportunity that CLARA presented. To introduce AI and machine learning to the field of workers’ comp in such a meaningful way is truly extraordinary,” said Tom Ash. “I’ve spent the majority of my career dealing with complex issues that required a lot of time and money to solve. CLARA is alleviating these pains at a time when the industry is desperately in need of its solutions because claims costs are spiraling out of control. I knew right away that this was a company launching a movement that I wanted to be a part of. I am extremely excited about the journey ahead.”
