  • Atlanta, GA (1888PressRelease) April 16, 2011 - Atlanta Interior Designer Christy Dillard has developed her first collection, a 12 piece selection for high-end case goods manufacturer Lorts Manufacturing. The collection, Christy Dillard by Lorts, will be introduced to the southeast at the 2011 Symphony Show House & Gardens. Pieces can be viewed, in installation, beginning April 16th.

It will enter permanent exhibition and be available for purchase at to-the-trade showroom Jordan Spencer, located at the Atlanta Decorative Arts Center. The collection will be toasted, in conjunction with a celebration of Jordan Spencer's one year anniversary, May 12th from 4 to 7 pm.

Dillard, long a fixture on the southeastern interior design scene, describes her show house design as having "a collected feel, a very modern vintage appeal." She continues, "the room is full of color but not overwhelming and definitely has both invigorating and soothing qualities". Highlights of the kitchen and breakfast room include pieces from the new collection.

Upon entering the space, visitors will immediately be drawn to the 272 Buffet. "The purple buffet has a fun, vibrant quality while remaining sophisticated and functional. It inspires and deeply connects with the senses when first viewed in the room…just wonderful" says Dillard. The buffet features a crisp, transitional shape with asymmetrical custom hardware to add interest. Its clean exterior belies the abundance of storage within its doors, with drawers and adjustable shelves to organize.

The collection, Christy Dillard by Lorts, builds on the strengths of the Lorts brand and incorporates signatures of her style: classic silhouettes with unexpected detailing, bold color and styling selections, and an energized, contemporary perspective. Pieces are approachable, adaptable and sharp. "What I love and think is the biggest strength of the collection is its fluidity and changeable nature. You can put all of these pieces in any setting, just by changing the finish. It is definitely unrestrained" explains Dillard. Every piece in the collection relates to Dillard's design sensibilities, with objects developed to fit her eclectic look without sacrificing cohesiveness.

For over 17 years, Dillard has created environments that combine classical details with elements that reflect the evolving nature of design. A graduate of Auburn University and an Allied Member of ASID, Christy is an active participant in the Southeastern interior design community.

Christy's 2007 show house room earned her the prestigious ASID Design Excellence Award, as well as the cover of the 2008 Georgia ASID Directory. Her work has appeared in Atlanta Homes & Lifestyles, Atlanta Magazine's HOME, Better Homes and Garden's Window & Wall Ideas, Today's Custom Home, and the Atlanta Journal and Constitution.

Christy Dillard also received notable acclaim when Jezebel Magazine chose her as one of the nine "Home Professionals of Distinction," Atlanta Homes & Lifestyles named her "One of The Top 20 under 40 New Talents" in 2006, and Peach magazine featured her as one of "The New Garde," in 2007.
