  • Orlando, FL (1888PressRelease) July 19, 2023 - Campers with a cancer diagnosis arrived at Camp Boggy Creek recently to experience the week of their lives thanks to the generosity of the Chiera Family Foundation, a Coconut Creek based organization. Since opening its doors in 1996, Camp Boggy Creek has never charged a family to attend Camp and that's all made possible through the generosity of foundations, healthcare partners, corporations and individuals.

"The Chiera Family Foundation was thrilled to see kids who are battling cancer back enjoying their summer at Camp Boggy Creek. Seeing the smiles on their faces and watching them having fun like other kids is why we continue to raise money for this magical camp." - Lou Chiera, Board Member/Trustee

The Chiera Family Foundation has been helping to provide camperships to children with cancer for 30 years now, and this latest gift of $200,000 is the largest gift to date. The cost to host each camper for a summer camp session is $2500, this gift provides a life-changing, empowering, and FUN camp experience for 80 children. President and CEO Dan Jurman was more than surprised by the size of this generous gift.

"The Chiera Family Foundation has directly helped Camp Boggy Creek change the lives of thousands of children with a cancer diagnosis over the years. Their most recent gift of $200,000 will continue to reach more and more children who truly need the transformational experience of Camp in their lives. On behalf of our campers, their families, and Camp Boggy Creek, THANK YOU! We could not create this magic without you." - Dan Jurman, President & CEO, Camp Boggy Creek

    About the Chiera Foundation
The Chiera Family Foundation began as a tribute to the family’s patriarch Nick Chiera who passed away from cancer. All of their programs, N.I.C.K.’s Camp, N.I.C.K.’s Scholarships, N.I.C.K.’s Golf and N.I.C.K.’s Ice Skating are all named after their father and is an acronym for Nothing is Impossible for Cancer Kids. The organization’s annual event has since evolved into one of the area’s largest fundraisers for children and young adults who battle cancer.
