  • Jacksonville, FL (1888PressRelease) May 22, 2014 - The Orange Park-based Cherry Bomb Charmers junior roller derby team is proud to announce the addition of Jacksonville's "Nocturnal State of Mind" to the halftime program for "Head Over Wheels" - a full contact roller derby bout between the Charmers and the Florida Junior Rollergirls on Sunday, June 8th.

Nocturnal State of Mind is a Jacksonville-based alternative rock/modern rock band consisting of four members: Danielle Walker, Michael Ceccorulli, Lane Whalin, and Walker Barry. Blending powerful female vocals with a scintillating energy born of diverse musicianship, the members of NSOM obviously love what they do - it shows in the quality of the music they create. NSOM brings their best for each and every performance, giving everything to the music, the crowd, and their fans.

The junior roller derby bout will be held at the Skate Station Funworks located at 230 Blanding Blvd., Orange Park, Florida, at 6:00pm on Sunday, June 8th. Rink doors will open at 5:30pm for the bout. Admission for the event is $5 at the door. Active duty military and children ages 10 and under are admitted free.

"I'm incredibly excited to play our first-ever halftime show at the roller derby!" said Michael Ceccorulli, drummer for NSOM. Fellow band member Walker Barry added, "I cannot wait to play there!"

"We are so looking forward to having Nocturnal State of Mind join us for this bout," said Charmers General Manager Dana Wolfe, "NSOM has a reputation for intensity that will almost certainly be a perfect fit for the Charmers' brand of high-energy roller derby."

The prospect of playing at halftime for the all-girl junior roller derby team seems to have definitely made an impression on Danielle Walker, NSOM's lead vocalist. "Being a female vocalist in a rock band," said Walker, "I feel honored to play a halftime show of a sport focused on empowering young girls!"
