  • (1888PressRelease) August 31, 2022 - Thirteen students from ReaderzForge Theatre Arts, an after-school theatre program based in Chennai, have qualified for inter-country Regional Finals at World Monologue Games 2022 (WMG). They will represent India in this international event that features the best performers from 45 countries. WMG, often referred to as the Olympics for Actors, has thousands of performers participating in six categories. Nine students of ReaderzForge have qualified under ‘Tigers’ category (under 12 years) and four students under Youth category (12 to 17 years).

In the Regional Finals scheduled in October, ReaderzForge students in Tigers category will be competing against students from Pakistan while in Youth category they will be competing with actors from UK, Ireland, UAE, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. Winners of the Regional Finals will compete in the Global Finals to be held in November 2022.

World Monologue Games was set up in 2020 by Australian producer Pete Malicki, who refused to let global lockdowns deprive his fellow creatives of opportunities to perform. Malicki says, “Our third season is shaping up to knock the previous two out of the park. Many judges commented that the standard of submissions was much higher than in the past. I’m looking forward to seeing what the best actors from scores of countries can bring to the table with this year’s Games.”

Uncle Kay, Founder of ReaderzForge says, “This is fantastic news!! WMG is an incredibly tough competition and all the kids have worked exceptionally hard. Competing against some of the best child actors on a global platform will not only allow our children to build their confidence but also enhance their learning significantly.”

ReaderzForge is a unique combination of an English book reading club and theatre program for kids. Uncle Kay, a management consultant by day, uses theatre activities as a tool to enable kids to improve their overall communication skills, build emotional quotient and help them develop into strong leaders in the future. Uncle Kay was recently a semi-finalist at the World Monologue Film Festival 2022.
