It is estimated that 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer during her lifetime and each year more than 40,000 will die, according to the National Cancer Institute. This is why Chem-Dry and NBCF have teamed up to fight the disease that impacts millions of people around the world.

"Everyone has been touched by cancer in some way," said Ed Quinlan, VP of marketing at Chem-Dry. "We know how devastating it can be to learn your mother, sister, friend, or even you have breast cancer. We decided it was time to join the fight. Franchise owners are encouraged to participate in fundraising for breast cancer awareness and customers are invited to make a donation at the time of their cleaning service."

The Chem-Dry system has committed to donate $25,000 to the National Breast Cancer Foundation. In order to raise this money, Chem-Dry franchises across the nation will have the option to participate in the "Cleaning for the Cause" program by donating proceeds from cleaning jobs and helping spread awareness about the disease. Cans of World Famous Spot RemoverŪ will be sold in a special pink design, with an included $1 donation to NBCF. Many local Chem-Dry franchises will be offering additional promotions to benefit breast cancer awareness.

Barry Shatwell, owner of A-Ok Chem-Dry in Algonquin, Illinois, is a leader among franchisees supporting the cause.

"Losing my wife to breast cancer was a devastating experience that has forever changed me," Shatwell said. "I fundraise in honor of her fight with breast cancer to help hasten the finding of a cure. Chem-Dry understands the importance of this cause and I know if we all join together, we will make a difference."

The mission of the National Breast Cancer Foundation is to save lives through early detection education and by funding mammograms for those in need. They inspire the courage needed to win this monumental battle by providing women with help for today and hope for tomorrow.
